Were they worth the Money 💰 ? January Transfers

There are several times in a season that can set up failure or great success for a campaign and the winter transfer window is one of them. The January transfer window gives squads the chance to bring in a few new players to bolster the squad depth and perform better than before. Conte had a relatively busy transfer window last January, brining in a total of 3 players; all from other EPL clubs.

Emerson 🇮🇹

First on the list is joint-nationality defender Emerson of both Brazil and Italy . The Ex-Roma player cost the Blues €20 million and has signed with Chelsea until June 2022. The 23 year old is still young and showed masses of potential to grow into a stand out defender in the English division. Emerson quickly became a fans favourite and was able to rack up some game time thanks for Alonso’s suspension. The Italian international has made a total of 4 appearances this Premier League campaign with 2 coming from the bench. Emerson has got 1 assist and maintained an impressive 75% tackle success rate.

Ross Barkley 🇬🇧

The ex-Eveeton man at one stage was showing great potential for the years to come but he has since struggled heavily from injury causing a serious lapse in form.  Barkley has only managed a single appearance since arriving at the Bridge in January, despite being named on the bench multiple times. Ross cost the Blues a total of £16.94 million and at the age of only 24 years old the Englishman may still find a regular starting place during his Blues career.

The Frenchman was bought to be used as a substitute but has since overtaken the first team spot formally taken by Alvaro Morata. The 31 year old has been in impressive form, particularly  his brace against Southampton that made Chelsea come back from 2-0 down to winning the match 3-2. The Frenchman has scored 7 goals so far this campaign, including 3 for Chelsea.
